The moment Emma Watson cut off her Hermoine hair to find her own personal style with a short pixie crop she became a sure style icon.
Recently Glamour Magazine’s 9th annual best dressed celeb has been rocking her hair slicked back – at numerous Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part II premiers, spotted around Paris and on the July cover of US Vogue.
This trend goes as far back as J-Lo in the 90s and it seems to be Kim Kardashian’s go-to look these days, but slick back hairdos were also popular on the Spring 2011 runways. Cynthia Rowley added a touch of metallic lustre to her models’ slick looks while Michael Angel slicked it down close to the hairline and tucked hair under in a covert chignon.
Emma makes her slick look even more fashionable with a severe side parting. This was another favourite hairstyle of the Spring 2011 collections. DKNY employed the look to complement voluminous neck scarves while Carolina Herrera and Prabal Gurung also implemented the trend.
But you don’t need to have short hair to try this look! Simply pull your hair back into a low ponytail or bun and slick your hair back tightly with hair gel or use a serum (layer the serum on the hair until you get the right amount. Smooth through from the front of hair).
